Acer Aspire One - schermo nero - Bios recovery

"Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery
The Acer Aspire One has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, which can boot into a minimal BIOS environment via a special boot block to re-flash the BIOS, even if the system does not pass POST and does otherwise not boot anymore. This procedure is also known as Crisis Disk.
First format an USB flash drive with FAT. It does not need to be bootable.
Download the latest BIOS, and extract all files. Put both FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file with FD suffix in the root directory of the flash drive. The files must not be in a folder. Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD before proceeding. It only works with this exact filename.
Turn the AA1 off, and verify both battery and AC adapter are plugged in.
Press Fn and Esc simultaneously, keep them pressed and press the power button. Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds. The power button starts blinking at this point. Press it once. The AA1 will now access the files on the flash drive and initiate flashing the BIOS. After a while the power button stops blinking, and the AA1 reboots by itself. Wait patiently.
If it doesn't reboot, but keeps blinking, wait at least a few minutes before turning it off, and try again."

In altre parole:
  • Predisporre una pendrive formattata FAT o FAT32. Non è necessario che sia avviabile;
  • Scaricare l'ultimo BIOS da qui ed estrarre tutto nella cartella principale (la root) della pendrive;
  • Rinominare il file del bios esattamente in ZG5IA32.FD;
  • Collegare batteria ed alimentazione all'Acer;
  • Inserire la pendrive nell'Acer;
  • Tenere pressati Fn e ESC insieme, quindi premere anche il pulsante di accensione;
  • Rilasciare Fn e ESC dopo alcuni secondi ed il pulsante di accensione comincerà a lampeggiare;

"
1. Save ROM file (rename kav10.fd to JAL90x64.fd) to the root directory of USB storage.
2. Plug USB storage into USB port.
3. Press Fn + ESC button then plug in AC.
The Power button flashes once.
4. Press Power button to initiate system CRISIS mode.
When CRISIS is complete, the system auto restarts with a workable BIOS."

Attenzione però che nello stesso blog viene altresì indicato che:

"I had a similar problem with my D150 1893... and the same... after more than 1 hr the screen was still black and the USB stick flashing. So I stopped and placed only the bios file kav10.fd on the USB drive. And voilá! That made the difference for me!"

e pertanto la soluzione è quella di non rinominare il file kav10.fd. :

"The BIOS recovery file name is KAV10.fd.

  • Format USB flash drive with FAT filesystems.
  • Put the file (KAV10.fd) in USB flash drive.
  • Plug the USB flash disk into a USB port on the bricked notebook.
  • Press Fn + ESC button then plug in AC power.
  • Press Power button to initiate system CRISIS mode.
  • The process can take one to two minutes to complete.
When CRISIS is complete, the system auto restarts with a working BIOS."
